Fuchsia Original Watercolor Floral

Can't believe it's been so long since I've posted here. Main reason is because my good old digital camera has finally given up it's ghost and I've been unable to photograph any of my art works that are too big for the scanner.

Here's one that did fit in the scanner after I finished it this afternoon. The size is 5x7 inches and was painted on Cartiera Magnani 140# CP paper. It's become my paper of choice for florals.
Thanks for stopping by.

Reworking a Watercolor Painting

Sometimes it's necessary to take a second look at a painting, and it needs to be re-worked.
That was the case of this 4x6 inch watercolor.
I asked an artist friend to give me her critique and welcomed her suggestions.
Finished the re-work this morning and am now much more pleased with the painting. A few shadows deepened here and there, and a few shapes popped out can make a big difference.
I've posted the before and after images.

Fun Art in Acrylics - Lighthouse

Does the image look a little strange with holes in it? That's because it's a switch plate. Yesterday I felt like doing something fun and different. So I decided to paint a few light switch plates using acrylic tube paints. The most challenging part was designing a composition around the screw and switch holes in the plate.
But after solving that little problem I was thoroughly enjoying myself doing something out of the norm...and having fun in the process.

Lily of the Valley Original Watercolor

Of all the different flowers I paint, this is the one I enjoy doing most. The reason is because it was my mother's favorite. And I have sweet childhood memories of picking little bouquets for her each year in May. Their fragrance is wonderful!

My daffodils are blooming now, and looking at them reminded me of all the Spring blooms to follow soon. Unfortunately, I've never had any success growing Lily of the Valley in my garden, so I just have to paint them instead. (Wink)

This piece is ACEO size 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Shells Watercolor

This piece is a commission I recently completed. My client requested the painting to be done in a vertical format which created a lot of empty space in the composition. And I spent a few weeks trying to decide how best to work the background. Finally I decided to give it a soft fluid look that wouldn't compete with the freshness of the simple subject. Here's the result.
Shells with Grass. SIZE: 14 x 17 inches (Painting is brighter than appears in the photo.)

Spring Blossoms Watercolor

Looking forward to Spring and all the lovely blossoms. This original watercolor was inspired by a photograph taken by an artist friend in Italy.
Size is 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Tuscany Landscape Acrylic on Stretched Canvas

Recently I decided to create some acrylic paintings on canvas. It was quite a change, as well as challenging, after working in watercolors for so many years. But after a few hours I found that I was thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.
Here's a large acrylic painting on stretched canvas. The size is 24x30 inches.
